Daily Photos – Upcoming Theme

I’ve been posting a different photo from my existing collection everday for about a week now, and it’s something I admittedly should have started a few months ago. In any case, we’re leaving for Maui tomorrow and I thought I’d set a goal to upload and feature at least one new each day from our trip.

So be prepared for a little tropical theme for the next two weeks. While it’s not going to feel like much of a challenge for me to do this on a daily basis with new photos on Maui, the real trick is when we come back. I really need to get serious about this and work on shooting new photos everyday, even if it’s just everyday life.  Realistically, it will probably be a different shoot every weekend and sharing the best during the following week.  I think I can live with that.

Wish me luck.

Now in View: Door County

Visitor Center in EphraimAs I’ve mentioned in recent posts, my wife and I recently made our first trip up north to Door County, Wisconsin for an extended weekend. We had it on good authority that we’d like it, and it was only about halfway throught the weekend when we know we’d be coming back often.

I’ve added a new Door County page to the Viewfinder section with more details about why “The Door” is my newest favorite spot to take photos.  Our first trip was in September, when the leaves were only starting to change into their array of autumn colors, and the weather was still nice enough to walk outside without a jacket.  We’re planning our next weekend trip for the first week of December, which promises to be an early winter wonderland by midwestern standards.  I’m looking forward to making it my first focused effort of shooting the scenic snowscapes that is Wisconsin in winter.

Because we’re in Chicago and Door County is only about a 4 hour drive away, we think we’ll be making quite a few trips up there in the coming years.  That said, the Door County page might be small now, but it could very easily expand at a fairly decent rate, so be sure to check back from time-to-time to scope out the latest.

Thanks.

Welcome to photonelly.com

Welcome, or as they say in Hawaii, E Komo Mai.

Today is the official launch of my newest site, photonelly.com, a portfolio site of my photography work so far in my short shooting career and a place to find out more about my photos, my favorite subjects, all the neat camera gear I use, and how I got into photography in the first place. You’ll probably notice that there is a very Hawaiian theme in most of the photos here, and there’s a very good reason for that. We love it there! If you happen to be a fan of Maui or even Hawaii as well, stop by my Maui website, Ka’anapali Dreamin’, when you’re done here.

It’s been a long two weeks in getting this site up and running, which is a very short time frame for starting a sight like this, especially compared to my other websites. While it could be some time before I get around to adding more of my favorite photos and other details to the main sections of the site, I’m really excited about the blog that you’re reading now. I’m currently in the market for two new cameras by the end of this year and before our next Maui trip in February. I plan on doing some research and comparisons and can’t wait to share those notes here.

Also, I have experiences with a few different tricks and techniques that I’m looking forwarding to sharing here. Professionally, I am a web developer and definitely a techie, so whenever I can do more with my photos through technology, I’m all over it. Future posts here will cover geotagging photos with a GPS data recorder, connecting you camera to a laptop to do time lapse photography, and one of my favorite new hobbies, astrophotography.

I think that’s a good start for now, how about you? So, have a look around, let me know what you think, and don’t forget to subscribe to the blog feed.

Mahalo (thanks).

photonelly Website Almost Finished

This is the first post on the new photonelly Blog, which means that I’m getting closer to finishing the site and getting it online. The current goal is for the end of this week!

For more information, check the sneakpeak post at my webnelly.com blog.

Thanks,
- Kris
